The DO IT YOURSELF movement inspired him to develop direct support to culture-based institutions and programs, removing the bureaucracy associated with many traditional funding agents and empowering both the supported and the supporters. In 1999, Mr. Fisher originated a hybrid means of networking and capacity-building assistance for museums and culture-based institutions. Benefactors of LegacyAdvocacy are as diverse as the Arts Council of Switzerland, and the New York Times Agency. The beneficiaries are as varied as: USC Fisher Museum of Art, University of Southern California; The Museum of Fine Arts, St Petersburg; Muscrarelle Museum of Art, College of William and Mary; The Butler Institute of American Art; and the Atlanta Modern Design Festival; among others.
